so for today, is it possible the child can leave the room with their key person? and for tomorrow maybe look at repeating whatever happened to create this strong bond between the two, so that gradually the child feels comfortable transitioning to another adult when their KP needs to leave?
It could be useful to look into buddying, and the support that the KP has from their colleagues eg. who steps in to take over when they need to leave/prepare food/toilet?
