Beltain or Beltane

Hadn't heard of this festival until very recently ... Did a quick search that wasn't particulary successful !!

So wondered how everyone here celebrated it.....

Dare I disagree???? OF COURSE I DARE!

I dont think we should celebrate ALL festivals! I think we run ourselves ragged enough tring to fit everything else in!!!! I meaan.... there IS only so much we humble people can DO right???

I think....that we should celebrate all festivals which ARE RELEVANT and MEANINGFUL to the children in our care!!! and im not saying that in a narrowminded kind of way - just that...well if someone in your setting celebrated a festival - then celebrate that with everyone! but as for other festivals.....I will leave them!

I looked at one site about this festival......what it suggested happening in the garden made me think...erm not this time! ALthough I will say that if it celebrated locally to your setting - then go for it! but not in the way that site suggested! lol

I do love adding a burning ember to the site! Hope you all dont mind! :sorry:

LOL...keep on 'embering' away as I completely agree !

It is good to know about other festivals their meanings and how familys/individuals celebrate them.
That enables us all to make a concious decision as to wether they are relevant to your own group/setting ... for whatever reason....

YES!! Ruthieryhme I AGREE!!! :rotfl: :rotfl:

And WOW!!! Ive been given official permission to 'ember away' :goodvibes :rotfl: Does she know what she has just done girls?? I can hear groans all the way from over here!!!

Can I just make it clear though....my intention is never to upset or offend people!! BUT I do think its a very positive thing for us all to have our ideas tried and tested as it were - its good to look at another point of view often - even if it does just confirm that your original idea was right!

One of the things i have learnt most during my FD is that to be a reflective practitioner is a very positive thing as it ensures we dont become stuck in our ways and stale!

So please dont think im being difficult or argumentative - im just exercising ALL of our brain cells! (apparently thats the way to stay young! :rotfl: )

Right fellow Silkysteppers, seeing as there has been a little interest in this festival, I have done some homework. Actually I have written an essay on it!!!! :sorry: If any of you would like to learn some more about the event, then here's a link:

Beltane Festival

As the posts are limited in the amount of words you can input, and due to the volume of info I found, it has run to 3 posts!!!! Thanks to Ruthierhyme, it has now been merged into one linked post - Thanks It is interesting and worth a read though. (I would say that after typing over 122,000 words for your interest!:rotfl:)

Anyway, I hope I can shed some light on the event (no pun intended) and if you do happen to celebrate, please let us know how you did.

I too am realising that having a different view is what makes learning so much more interesting...:bouncy: :bouncy:

Glad you enjoy reading my reflections and challenges!

I look at it this way..... You need the people like me to appreciate the people like you! or you, or you , or you! Life would be sooooo boring if we were all the same and thouoght the same and did the same ect!
