We support hundreds of destitute asylum seekers each year with a small staff team of 8, plus the help of 80+ volunteers, providing food, accommodation and support to those who would otherwise have nothing.Because we work with destitute asylum seekers we aren't eligible for direct funding from the government, however, this means we are reliant on charitable trusts and individual donors to support the work we do. With ever increasing competition from organisations that have, until recently, received funding from the government, we are losing out financially.Furthermore, our clients desperately need free legal counsel to help them with their appeals or fresh claims for asylum. Legal aid cuts have had a huge impact on the possibility of many of our clients receiving support, leaving an even bigger burden of responsibility at our door.
