Bear's bedtime rhyme, preschool paint and craft activties

The bear in a bed so big and wide
that he tugged at each corner
and he pulled at each side.
He plumped up the pillow
and he turned off the light
he closed his eyes tightly and he snored all night!

He could also dream all night, but don't shout it too loudly or he might wake up  ..

The Goodnight Guide for children from The Sleep Council

Bear is genderless! change the he/his to her/she as wanted and have fun sharing information about children's bedtime routines, which storybooks are their favourite, tooth brushing and the designs that decorate their bedding!

Nursery rhyme activities

Act out  the ryhme as the verse progresses by tugging an imaginary sheet from its tucked in corner, pull it out from the underside of the matress, plump up a pillow, turn off a light, close your eyes tightly and snore, or dream all night.

or laminate the sheets so they can be used over and over with playdough, chalk and whiteboard marker pens. Roll sheets of dough, cover bear and decorate the surace with buttons, glitter and sequins.

Roleplay outlines & sequencing use these to play, order and storytell the rhyme. Print and play or cut the templates from craft foam. Fold the papers to create beds with slots that hold the game pieces and include a rhyme card for children to enjoy whenever they want.

Creating the bed roleplay resource:

1. print the bed sheet: pillow outline or colour pillow
2. fold the whole sheet gently in half lengthways (don't crease the fold) and cut away both edge sections then fold up the bottom piece to form the bed cover.
3. fold the top of the 'bed cover' down and then fold both side sections back and behind creating a slot.
4. Print the bears and the rhyme and fill the bed!

Fold the template to make bear's bed
