5 tiny peas in a pea-pod pressed

Peapod rhyme and preschool threading activity
illustrated by Ruth Grimes copyright © 2015

One grew, two grew, and so did all the rest.
They grew and they grew ...and they did not stop,
Until one day the pod went ...POP!

Enjoy this hand and finger rhyme by beginning with a clenched first, then at the second line extend 1 finger, 2 fingers and then the rest. Have the peas grow by using your hands to swell an invisible ball and then finish with a pop - hand clap!

Use the activity dot to dot and word sheets to support children's mark making, number and letter recognition skills. Make the peapods by cutting out & then hole stamping the lower edge. Provide a selection of yarns, cord and ribbon to thread the two sides of the peapod together then slot the peas inside ..
