Springtime bird nest and chick rhyme
5 baby chicks in
a springtime nest
small and fluffy with little feathers on their chests
along came xx who looked up one day
saw a parent bird fly in then away
what was mummy or daddy bird doing?
Keeping the chicks warm
Cleaning the nest
Feeding the babies?

Build this rhyming game by first
printing, cutting out and colour filling the following pieces:

1x nest
1x sheet of baby chicks
1x side view of each parent bird
1x copy of the rhyme & play guide
resources needed
Paper
Laminating pouches
Colouring tools - chunky crayons
Thread or string
Hole punch on amazon.co.uk

Rhyming word sheet parent
bird left side and parent bird right side

Assemble the role play resource
1. Glue the rhyme to the front of an A4 piece of paper and
laminate
2. Glue the left and right parent sides together and laminate
3. Laminate the chicks and nest
Trim all pieces.
4. Position the nest at the base of the A4 sheet and hole
punch together, tie with cord or string to secure them. This will enable
the chicks to slot in and out of the nest
PLAY
Pass out as many parent birds as wished.
Recite the rhyme and then ask what the parent bird
was doing.
Have willing volunteers come up and do a fly by with
their parent bird.
Maybe they take a chick back with them to help it
learn how to fly?
Recite the rhyme again with a reduction to the number
of chicks in the nest..
