5.3 can your setting what happens when a child becomes ill and request a copy of the policy/procedure so you can submit it as workplace evidence if needed. Alternatively you can use the information on page 79 of the Work Based learner handbook:
Possible procedures:
  • Child is reassured, but moved away from the other children to prevent spread of infection.
  • Child's condition is assessed and continues to be monitored.
  • Parents are called so that they can make arrangements to collect their child. (where parents cannot be contacted the early years setting will use the list of prearranged contact names)
  • In a situation where there are concerns that a child's condition is deteriorating, immediate medical attention will be sought.
  • The relevant reports will be filled in, signed and dated
6.1 page 80 will also need you to ask your setting. How would/do they support children in preparation for a stay in hospital? talk frequently with parents? listen to the child, take their words seriously, be positive about the reasons for the visit, ensure the child's keyperson can monitor what's happening in the setting so that changes in their behaviour can be managed quickly.

7.1 hospital play is a foundation degree course and as such the benefits of play for children's recovery during times of stress are recognised. Play enables distraction, a break from the pressures of less familiar environments, people, worry and anxiety which all helps the body's physiological responses. Play offers time for children to express their emotions helping them to share what's happening to them with others and come to terms with the experiences they're having.

8.1 is detailed research you can find on pages 82+ of the work based handbook - search for the word hospital in the preview

Hi thanks you've been a great help, I don't think I have that book I was advised to get a different one from my tutor, or was I meant to double click on the highlighted part of 8.1? xx
