Hi, welcome to silkysteps

Strategies to deal with difficulties in work include ..
  • Understanding how your perspective may differ from others and how that is okay.
  • Understanding how others have perspectives that are as meaningful to them as your perspectives are to you and how that is okay.
  • That the importance of well-being, safety and positive outcomes for the children around you enables a working partnership that is a mechanism for knowing why you want to succeed at overcoming the difficulties you encounter.
  • You can research on the internet
  • Read books
  • Speak with your supervisor or mentor
  • Arrange a meeting that discusses events with due confidentialty
  • Watch how others manage similar situations
  • Ask your peers questions that help explore the issues
  • Practice how you can respond by looking at case studies
  • Practice saying the words that you feel most comfortable using and that explains your founding reasons most aptly.
  • Critically reflect on the situations you encounter to see if or how they could of been handled differently
  • Ask yourself why, when you you feel the need to say yes, when you feel the need to say no, when you feel agrieved or upset by something and when you agree to look into a joint interest further ..
Discrimination is hard to challenge especially where your views and opinions are questioned by colleagues, friends, parents and the children themselves. Understanding your own cultural background, upbringing, perspectives, views and opinions and knowing how those may not be immediately shared by others enables everyone to see the rich diversity that surrounds us. Being able to explain your reasoning rationally and calmly will help others understand your ethics and practice. In reverse, providing others with the time to do the same will enable them to give reasoning and see how a solution can be overcome.

How difficulties are dealt with in your setting or placement may vary to other settings and might be what your assessor or tutor will chat to you about when they arrange to visit and observe this outcome.

Can you ask foir copies of your setting's inclusion, diversity, equal opportuinity, anti-discriminatory policies?
