Grassington Hub and Community Library

Yorkshire Forward withdrew fuding for year two of a two year programme. Althoughwe are a sustainable organisation this withdrawal of funding in our early months has put Grassington Hub and Community Library in a difficult financial position. Although we are continually fundraising and have rental income our start up costs have used our reserves. We missed the first quarter of our funding due to the slowness of NYCC organising the library facility and we were relying on the second year's funding to give us a cushion to acrue funds. We have therefore only received funding for nine months instead of the twenty we budgeted for and now only havereserves to for four months. Grassington Hub and Community Library has been a great success since its opening - we have increased library hours from two half days to six full days, library membership has increased, the local primary school brings children for storytime, Grassington Festival now has a permanent office, in our outreach office Airedale Hospital are starting telemedic sessions and Yorkshire Housing are holding 'drop in' sessions. We are currentlysearaching for other outreach sessions eg optician, Yorkshire Credit Union. We are producing a village magazine and are updating the village website. These are all Grassington Hub initiatives and benefit many sectors of village life. Our main issue is that this funding was agreed and formed part of our business plan and now we
