I thought you may like to read this

Hi all just had to share this with you all Each weekend I do a big Craft Market were I live And two years ago I was on TV and in all the news papers with my Reborns Now some one approached me at the weekend and he wants to cast my little preemie into silicon and he also makes all the TV Characters for the
Television Like Postman Pat etc..

But I have some other news too,
when I made Serena as I was happy with her as she is my first sculpt, but my Doctor is so enthralled with the reborns I make, He wanted to see my Sculpt
And he was shocked how true to life she is only to be told by him and his colleagues that this little thing I had made by hand is a true Down Syndrome Baby this was not my intention but it just happened,
And the Down's Society are interested too

That's good news Rosie1 although I have to say that's a little harsh for a Doctor to label a doll with Downs Syndrome !

On a reality level ~ for a genetic disorder to be assumed by looks alone can be very upsetting for parents, diagnoses should be correctly performed .. I know from personal experience how a youngster who appeared to have some physical characteristics of downs and yet proved negative for the genetic disorder, is treated by other adults who have preconcieved ideas!

and surprisingly (or not) some reactions can be quite shockers!!!

Are they intending to make downs dolls ? awareness, acceptance and understanding is brought about by living life with these ideals..so I'm not sure I personally would agree with a doll .. but then I also have a fairly idealistic view of how people should accept others without criticism and labels :wink:
