The Health Protection Agency (HPA) has recently published A Children’s Environment and Health Strategy for the United Kingdom – Consultation Document. The Strategy provides recommendations to the Government on ways to reduce environmental hazards and promote healthy environments to improve the health and well-being of children and young people in the UK. Areas covered in the Strategy include: improving sanitation facilities and access to drinking water in schools; ensuring access to well-maintained green spaces; improving understanding of unintentional childhood poisonings; and improving sun protection education amongst children and young people.
