What worked for us was time outside...the child thrived on being in our outdoor space...we took small groups out with him and gradually he chose to come inside and join in with the indoor activities...admittedly we increased his sessions as initially his attendance was hit and miss...so we worked with his parents to support his routine..bringing breakfast from home so that he actually came rather than miss out because he had'nt eaten etc....took a while, but he is now a very happy and settled member of our group
