some useful books about schemas include Cathy Nutbrown's "Threads of Thinking", , Margy Whalley's "Involving Parents in Their Children's Learning", Tina Bruce "Early Childhood Education" and also a book by Cath Arnold about schemas and emotions sorry I can't find the name but she published a paper in 2007 which may be available online from
