We took a group of 10 4 year olds last year to Forest School - and it was a wonderful experience for the children and nursery staff alike.
Amongst other things, the children learned to...
make fire, using kindling and spark makers (and then obviously toasted marshmallows etc)
used a saw to cut a slice of wood to make necklaces
hunted for willow trees and then made willow figures/hats
made clay woodland creatures
I felt I learned as much as the children as I am not a natural in the countryside!
