News Item Bonjela in the news

Guidance issued today has recommended that adult formulated Bonjela cool mint gel and Bonjela used ulcer treatment should be risk assessed before being applied/given to Children below the age of 16.

This is in connection with the theory that ingredients similar to asprin may relate to reyes syndrome.

For any group with a teething / sore mouth policy that may use these products it has been recommended that visiting a local pharmacy to ask about alternatives may be beneficial - Bonjela teething gel is not included in this health risk.

Information on Reye's syndrome, as above from NHS Library and Cafamily Reye's syndrome
