Beads & threading?
 

What bead & threading resources have you found the 8yr age range enjoys?

Do you find they are used more often by girls or have you found bead/resources that invites equal interest from the boys ?

i have found that only one child in my setting is interested in beads and threading....unless you count the children that glue the threading beads on to boxes etc for jewellery

but many children, both boys and girls from age 3-14, spend hours doing hama beads

The children at our setting love making bracelets, we get the beads from county supplies or Baker Ross and like the reply above they all love hama beads. They also like making friendship bracelets with the silks you can get from county supplies.

at a playcentre i was working with recently we bought jewelry findings and made real earrings, the girls loved it.

My son's school used neon drinking straws (Asda sell them) chopped into pieces to make beads, they looked great.

what a fantastic and cheap idea!!
