Cheapskates or Frugal

Having a giggle at an article on aol at some of the things people do to save a penny and wondered what everyone's experiences are here ... :D

My dad has has been known to tour the local town's greengrocers for over an hour with me in tow to save 1p on a bag of carrots, my mum uses 1 tea bag for about 4 cuppas .. she likes it weak she states!!! :D

Every New Year, my Mam would have my brother and I cutting out gift tags from the old Christmas cards snow person- we used to argue over who would get to use the pinking shears!!:D

I use old towels, t-shirts etc as dusting/cleaning rags. At least I don't use old y-fronts like my Mam did!!!!!:wide-eyed

If an item of clothing is beyond repair/charity donation, I check to see if it's 100% cotton. If it is, it gets washed and I use it in my patchwork.

I have just discovered a good tip: we have been considering buying cable tidies for behind the tv and pc, but just found this - use pipe cleaners. They're cheap, strong and easy to undo! :highfive:

Here's a website for more:

The Frugal Life

Ahh the wonders of pipe cleaners :D lol ... I use plastic coated ties that hold toys to their packaging, can be a feat to remove!

One of the stories that made me laugh was a chap that although really well off... pinched his works toilet rolls, even though it was like sandpaper ..... :wide-eyed
