Leafy shapes

:leaf: A brilliant Easel activity is using real leaves as stencils.
  • Collect a selection of leaf sizes & shapes from your local wood or park.
  • On the easel have large paintbrushes (aprons!!) & some coloured mixed paint at the ready......
  • Let the children paint the surface of the leaves and then press them against the surface of a piece of paper that's already pegged to the easel.
  • Peel the leaf off so that it leaves leave an impression behind.
:log: Once the prints are dry - cut them out with straight & serated edged scissors and build your own wall display tree & leaves !!

I LOVE THIS!!!!:D :D :D

I'm wondering if it can be adapted for outdoor painting? Is masonry paint safe for kids to use? Just thinking of brightening up the back yard by printing directly onto the wall!:D

Really cool idea Ruthierhyme!

If you check the contents/additives list of the Masonary paint before letting them paint with it you should be ok .... just watch for paintbrush sucking  lol !!

It's a great way to brighten up a plain wall ... we did a huge mural painting in the playground of the local Primary school... then hung dream catchers that the children had made from the beams of the outdoor pergola.. looked wonderful :D
