chair safety
this was in the latest issue of under 5 magazine, the pla one
thought everyone should know. Ofsted safety alert following an accident as a registered setting ofsted has issued a safety alert concerning tubular frame metal chairs. a child was injured when falling onto the leg of an upturned chair. which penetrated the skin because the rubbber foot had worn through use. the priovder in question is checking and replacing worn rubber feet onn thousands of tubular frame metal chairs across its settings and the chair manufacturer confirmed that there may be many thousands of chairs with missing or worn away feet in early years settings and schools |
:wide-eyed I remember when ours needed doing .. took ages to remove all the broken & worn out plastic feet !!
I think we were lucky though as Reception did theirs at the same time so we managed to order a bulk lot of replacement feet in, although can't remember where from ! |
i have contacted the manufacturer and we can get 100 feet for £30 plus vat, so not too bad. we have approx 50 chairs so to replace them all would need 200 i guess! thinking of replacing them all at the same time to be honest
