What sort of Hamper raffles do you orgainse ?

Which have you found more popular with parents donating items ?

Toys, gifts, food or something else ?

We did a guess the food hamper weight?
We asked parents to donate items to make up a nice hamper. Put everything in a washing basket and glizts it up with tinsel ect..
The Manager, weighed the basket and put different weights each squares on to card, (she was the only one who knew the correct answer)so parents could pick it up and then have a guess by looking at the various weight on the sheet/card.
Huge success, last year did guess the calories, not as popular!

We have just held a raffle today we sold tickets outside our local supermarket. It was very worth while especially at this time of the year.

thought you had to have a license to sell tickets not at the venue and at a different time to the actual draw as it becomes a lottery. we always had to for school draws.

IMPORTANT: Draw Tickets and the Law

Any activity in which a prize can be won by chance is subject to the fairly complicated laws on gaming and lotteries. Basically Draws can be divided into two categories. Those that take place at a charity event, such as a fete, where proceeds are going to the charity are termed 'small lotteries' and do not require a licence. Whereas, if tickets are sold in advance to the general public you will probably need a licence which is available from the Director of Administration and Legal Services at your local District council for a one off fee plus a smaller annual registration fee. If you are in any doubt as to the status of your Draw Tickets please phone your local council for advice.

We used to donate a big Christmas cake to our local school when we had the bakery and they would either raffle it or guess the weight. We also used to donate £5 shopping vouchers, which the Mums liked; but then again, you can buy a lot of cream buns for £5..lol.
