Keeping your Children safe on the roads
Keeping your Children safe on the roads Webchat ~ Expert advice on ensuring your family are visible to drivers in the dark months ahead .. Showing date: Friday 26th October Showing time: 14:30 – 15:00 Are you worried about the safety of your children on the roads? With the clocks going back on Saturday 27th October, more and more children will be making journeys to and from school in darker conditions. It’s particularly important at this time of year when children are less visible that we do everything we can to improve their safety on the roads. Thankfully, there are strategies you can employ in order to keep your kids away from danger. In 2001 Nationwide launched the Cats’ Eyes for Kids programme when 6m reflectors were distributed to UK primary schools-one for each child. Since then 1m reflectors have been distributed each year-one for every new intake pupil. UK child pedestrian casualties have fallen by 51% since the programme started and Nationwide has pledged to give free reflectors to every new intake child until 2010. Find out how this scheme can help your child stay safe throughout the winter months by watching our free Web TV show on road safety for children. It will give you the opportunity to find out the best ways to keep your child safe when they are near any traffic. Andrew Litchfield Head of Community and Environmental Affairs and Michelle Leighton, Community & Environmental Affairs Manager from Nationwide join us live online at: www.webchats.co.uk/webchat.php?ID=442 on Friday 26th October at 14:30 – 15:00 to discuss road safety for children. All the foundation stage children at my son's school were given a free high vis vest to wear over their coats when walking to and from school.

I've been trying to get some cheap high-vis tabards today.. I was told that Asda do then 5 for £9.50.. but they didn't have them at out local :(
I'm thinking of making some - anyone got any suggestions as to where I can get the fabric? I need at least 26 and I'm sure a get very easily make loads from just a couple of metres. xxx |
I got ones for the children here for £1.99 each from LIdl.... a few weeks ago now though so the offer may be over
You can get the material from a specialist haberdashery shop - it's not normal stuff! Have you tried suppliers on the continent? Every driver has to have them in their car, so they are more common Sarahx:smile: |
Our preschool uses this company - http://www.brightkidz.co.uk/ They have personalised duffle bags for each of the children. When a child joins there is a registration charge. This pays for the bag and their uniform. The charge is about £40, I think it was to stop people registering their child then backing out.
Edit: Just looked at their prices, don't think you'll be buying them from there. |
