Do you work in a Hospital ?
 

I've tried to get in touch with Playworkers and art Coordinators throughout our NHS services .. there doesn't seem to be a network or interactive community for this sector .. if you know of one (links to other forums are allowed !!) or would like us to provide something here that would enable yourselves and colleagues to chat to each other about work, life experiences and planning activies for the children you care for .... please get in touch & let us know ~ Silky@silkysteps.com

NHS Careers join forces with AAM - Ask About Medicines.

Whilst the week's focus .. 5th - 9th November 2007 is strong, this campaign is an ideal ongoing opportunity to bring the children's medication, aparatus, tools, administration techniques and the emotions involved into the everyday routine of your play, wherever possible including Staff members any their medication will help reinforce & broaden the children's knowledge, acceptance & respect.



If you have any advice or experiences you'd like to share, or would like some ideas on introducing an open approach to medications & use to the children .. please feel free to post !

I know it was a while ago that you posted this message, but I am the link person for groups of play specialists around the UK. Did you want to get in contact with Play Specialists in a certain area??

There is also a a forum for hospital play specialists, hospital play workers and those interested in the profession, such as play specialist students.

When I posted this thread I was aiming to connect nationally with people rather than target specific areas, with the number of visitors Silkysteps is receiving it's well placed to help advertise & promote this career choice, reaching out to any who might be interested is hugely important :) xx

I think the plans and aims of Slikysteps is wonderful, and I am so very pleased that you were already aware of therapeutic play in hospitals, years before I posted on your site. Sadly many people, even those who work in child related professions are not aware of this type of work at all.:thumbsup:

For you, and any members of Silkysteps I can help people get intouch with play specialists and hospital play networks around the country, as I am currently the National Association of Hospital Play Staff (NAHPS) Branch Liaison Officer. :cheerful:

Part of this role is that I try to assist play staff around the country to keep up-to-date with hospital play developments, and help link play staff and those interested in the profession, to get together with other people in the sames areas of the country, to share information and gain support from each other.

So if there is anyone on Silkysteps that is interest in this profession I am more than happy to help in any way I can.:cheerful:

anyone working as a hospital play specialist?
 

I currently work in a special school for children with severe and complex learning and medical needs. I have applied to Stanmore College, to do the foundation degree for Hosptial Play Specialism course in September. Would like to network with others who work or are studying in this area. Fingers crossed:D

I currently work in a childrens unit as a health care suppot worker for the last 5 years or so and have been helping out in the playroom in that time. I have just accepted a job as a Hospital playworker and hope to develop on from there I am also good friends with the hospital play specialist and we have been hoping to find a network where we can share/recieve ideas and chat to other people in similiar roles as we are trying to expand the play service ect.

hi I know this was posted quite a few years ago lol but just curious, how would I get into a job role as a play specialist in a hospital? I have a ccld level 3 and I am currently completing my foundation degree.
