Ncma??????
Hi, my NCMA memebership is up for renewal and with the insurance its just over £80 but if I dont join I can get insurance from Micheal Morton for half the cost, what does everyone think about not being an NCMA member?
|
The Ncma does a lot of work with Government on behalf of childminders... however the membership plus insurance is expensive.
I have always used Morton Michel and found them very supportive and helpful especially when I had a non paying parent last year. I think you need to weigh up the benefits of the insurance packages and then make a decision on whether you can afford to be an NCMA member if cost is the issue. I hope this helps  |
hi there, i used to be a member of the NCMA, but twice they were unable to recover money owing to me for my notice period! it was 2 seperate occassions, one was £300, one was £350.
They said as they did not think the parents would pay and the amounts were "small", i would need to pay £150 to take it to court. I said what is the point of me having memership as that is supposed to cover all the fees!!! I have switched to Morton Michel and it is a lot cheaper. In my experience NCMA's solicitors were useless, but i do believe they have changed the solicitor firm they use....but donot know how good they are...seems the solicitirs are in it to make money from us!:sarcastic |

If you are insured with MM you can use your own (or NCMA) paperwork. Make sure, whichever company you are insured with, that your fees policy is watertight and your contracts are spot on. I advise NCMA / MM contracts to start with so you are sure everything is worded correctly. Hth :cheerful: |
