Funding has been cut from youth services and also services for working with dads and their kids; while we have been delivering a successful service in these areas for the past 2 years, they have told us that the commissioned work will not carry on due to cuts.We were commissioned to run a youth club in a very urban area and were able to attract 40-50 hard to reach youth to every session, but they decided to cut this. The police worked closely with us and tried to stop the cut happening, as the youth club lessened the amount of incidents they had to deal with in the town centre related to youth anti social behaviour.With reference to the work we do with dads and their kids, this also has been cut; it was a commissioned piece of work from Surestart.
