Well I'm definately not getting out of jury service,:weepy: our social worker has just rang and told us to expect a court date in the middle of April!!! :gnasher: It's so annoying considering that the courts have had over £200 of our money since the beginning of December, it's only supposed to take a maximum of 12 weeks from application and certain Social workers have admitted not getting their paperwork completed on time!!!!:irked: :hissyfit: Oh well, I suppose it can't be helped. Everyone keep their fingers crossed I either don't have to attend every day or I get dismissed sharpish!!!:rotfl:

They usually choose more than they need for each group in case poeple have to cry off for any reason.Keeping all fingers, toes etc crossed they all turn up and someone takes sympathy on you cause you look so haggard,no make up etc.etc.etcNot for on minute saying you do but put on an extra good act.lol

Patsy, have you seen a photo of me??? Haggard? That's my look!!:D I can't remember the last time I wore make-up, if I remember to brush my hair it's a good day!:rotfl:
To add insult to injury, it looks like the schools will be closed on Tuesday due to the Unison strike so I've had to find care for the 6 year old too!! :sarcastic Luckily mother-in-law is off so I've accosted her services (I hope she didn't have plans!) I'm just looking forward to it being over, I'm going to enjoy it I know, but DH is off the 2nd week, so I'm expecting to be a bit more appreciated (I hope!) :crossfing |
Hi Guys,
Just thought i would update you on Jury Service. Obviously I can't tell you details, but I survived!!!! YAY!!!! As expected, I actually enjoyed the experience, I spent the first week sat on my bum getting to know 6 lovely people, :grouphug: then got called the second week. I spent 4 days in a courtroom listening to a charge of aggravated burglary (!), then spent 3 1/2 hours locked in the deliberating room, only to have a 6/6 split - twice! :sarcastic The judge wasn't happy with us, dismissed us in disgrace, (with a few choice words!)and went off to decide whether to call a new jury or not!!!:irked: I have spent the last few days feeling guilty for not doing the job I was supposed to (I'm not the only one!) and getting used to 'normal' life again. Would I do it again? Yes, but not for a couple of years please!:cheerful: |
hey there miss muffet! :cheerful:
I did Jury service a few years ago and like you DIDNT want to do it!! I had sleepless nights and anxiety about the whole thing!!! :sarcastic THANKFULLY lol I was booked to go on a course on the fourth day of my service, so I had to take a note with me saying so so i didnt have to attend that day!! It got me out of a big case!! YAY!! and then in the second week there were'nt enough trials for me to be needed so I didnt have to go! In the first week....I spent the whole time in the 'huge waiting room' doing nothing the first day!!! man I was sooooooo bored!!!! I learnt my lesson after that day though and spent the rest of my time there reading or doing preparation stuff for nursery!! lol I had complete strangers helping me just because they wanted something to do! and it certainly started off a good many conversations!! So after a very boring first day....I got to chat to some very interesting people, read a good book AND got quite alot of things done for nursery too! :D :D So my advice to you is.....take a book or somthing to do! other than that you just have to grin and bear it and hope you dont get called into court!!! Fingers crossed for you!!!!! :grouphug: :judge: :scared: :crossfing :crossfing :crossfing :horseshoe  |
Well done. Now you can spend extra time over Easter looking aftewr your extra special family.May you all enjoy this .lol

There's one great thing came out of it......I made 6 new friends.:cheerful: We're planning to get together every other month for a meal and a catch up, one of them's a bloke and how he put up with us I'll never know!!!:D We had 2 birthdays in our 'group' so we had a party for them one day!! It was fab!
I always try to gain something positive from new experiences, although at first, for the life of me, I couldn't see what that was going to be!:sarcastic |
