Every area has a 'nickname' if you like. I live in Darlington and Darlingtonians are 'Quakers'. But, being from Middlesbrough until 6 years ago, I'm actually a 'Smogmonster'. (nice!) Where do you come from and what are you known as? :idea:

was born near dartford in kent (havent a clue about name)
and now like near bastingstoke (again havent a clue!)

Well.....

The Basingstoke has the nickname 'Doughnut City'!, and is (apparently) officially the most boring place in the UK due to the high number of accountants who live there! I found it funny that, after Swindon, Basingstoke has the most roundabouts in the country!!!! Who counted them?!:rotfl:

As for Dartford, I've found zilch! Apart from the football team's nickname - 'The Darts'. :sorry:

Most nicknames are regional or derogatorily given by neighbouring (rival) towns, which is why rural villagers are usually 'Woolly-Backs' or worse!

well am originally from wales so am a taffy!!
now live in midlands,but am def not a brummie,lol....2 kids born in northallerton yorkshire and one in burton on trent staffs..hubbys from nottingham...have no idea about nicknames of any of them

D'OH!!!!! It's just dawned on me why Basingstoke is 'Doughnut City'!!! Roundabouts!!!! Dozy girl!!!!! I'll fix the loose screw now!

Being from Middlesbrough, I don't think I can answer that!! LOL!!:rotfl: When I was a kid there was such a big rivalry between the 2 towns! It made sense then, now it's just stupid!!! To try and find out, just surf the net!

I dont think im very good at surfing! I STILL cant find out what I am!

forgot about the roundabouts!!! just keep going round them!!! we do have soooooo many although didnt know swindon beats us <sob>
