Default Identify the positive outcomes for children and young people

Hi Everyone
I'm stuck again!
I have nearly completed
2.1. Identify the positive outcomes for children and young people that practitioners should be striving to achieve.

but i have got stuck on the last outcome which is Achieving economic wellbeing.
i have found out the EYFS statutory requirements, Suitable people, Organisation, Documentation.
but don't know how to link them with Every child Matters, any help will be greatfully recieved have spent approx 6-7 hours researching and writing about the other 4 outcomes but have drawn a blank on the last one.

DO you think it could be because Achieving economic wellbeing is present throughout the EYFS and the other outcomes.

hi lynne
· Achieve economic well being- by children having positive attitudes about learning and developing self confidence, independence, creative thinking, risk taking and flexibility will help young people in the world of work. All practitioners strive these outcomes for all children and young people. Ensure parents are involved in their child’s learning and that the child reaches their full potential.
hope this helps a little x

This is what i put.

All practitioners should be striving to achieve the 5 outcomes of the Every Child Matters framework:

• Be Healthy

• Stay Safe

• Enjoy and Achieve

• Make a Positive Contribution

• Achieve Economic Wellbeing

The children’s trust in our area will produce a Children’s Plan to show how they will improve the services for young people and children in our area.

By following the 4 EYFS themes we can see how they link into the ECM Framework (see chart below).

EYFS Theme Supporting Principles Every Child Matters

Unique Child 1.1 Child Development Make a positive contribution
1.2 Inclusive Practice Make a positive contribution
1.3 Keeping Safe Stay Safe
1.4 Health and Well-being Be Healthy

Positive Relationships 2.1 Respecting Each Other Make a positive contribution
2.2 Parents as Partners Make a positive contribution
2.3 Supporting Learning Make a positive contribution
2.4 Key Person Stay Safe

Enabling Environments 3.1 Observation, Assessment and Planning Enjoy and Achieve
3.2 Supporting Every Child Enjoy and Achieve
3.3 The Learning Environment Enjoy and Achieve
3.4 The Wider Context Make a positive contribution

Learning and Development 4.1 Play and Exploration Enjoy and Achieve
4.2 Active Learning Enjoy and Achieve
4.3 Creativity and Critical Thinking Enjoy and Achieve
4.4 Areas of Learning and Development Enjoy and Achieve

Be Healthy – this also includes how our health is affected by our social, mental, emotional and physical well-being. The Government has a focus on healthy living for children. At my pre school we provide healthy snacks for the children. We also promote healthy choices, talk about healthy hearts and activities that teach them an active lifestyle.

Stay Safe – we ensure children in our care are safeguarded. We have a named safeguarding officer who we can take any concerns to. We also have a robust safeguarding policy. Children know they can talk to any member of staff if they do not feel safe and they know they will be listened to.

Enjoy and Achieve – we observe children so we understand their needs and can then plan more accurately for individual children.

Make a Positive Contribution – we are continually assessing and developing our policies to ensure we are always making positive contributions to children’s development

Achieve Economic Well-being – by ensuring we follow all the EYFS and Every Child Matters we are ensuring all children have the best start in life and can go on into adulthood and achieve economic well-being

This is what I have put for this but my tutor wants more info and how we include diversity, inclusion and participation can some please help me and put it into simple terms for me please as im confused and dont know what to put!

Be Healthy : Means that as practitioners we help and encourage the children to be healthy and make healthy choices by providing them with healthy meals and snacks at appropriate times. In my setting we provide the children with drink and water. As we are attached to a children’s centre we have health visitors that come into the setting to talk to the children about brushing their teeth and keeping them healthy. We help the children to build up their self esteem and help them to deal with everyday and personal stresses. We encourage them in the right direction about their physical, mental, emotional sexual health and to avoid drug taking including smoking and drinking.

Stay Safe: We ensure all the children that attend our setting are kept safe by having all staff CRB checked and that all staff are at level 3 or above or that are taking the necessary training to become level 3. If any safeguarding issues arise within the nursery then we go straight to the senior, deputy or the leaders. We keep the children safe by having a buzzer system which lets the parents into the nursery. We keep the children safe by carrying out risk assessment’s checking that all the equipment and play areas are safe for the children.

Enjoy and achieve: We provide the children with both child initiated and adult led activities. We do observation’s on the children so that we can plan activities accurately for the children’s individual needs and learning abilities, also to make sure the children are progressing in the right direction and to make sure that if they are behind on their development we make the necessary adaptations to suit the level they are at. We make sure that we provide the children with a happy and safe environment that they are happy to come to and if the children are happy at nursery then this means that they can enjoy themselves and also it helps them to achieve and learn more while at nursery.

Make a positive contribution: We create a environment for the children that will help them to develop self confidence. We encourage the children to make their own choices and for them to know that us as practitioners are there to support them if they so need it. In our setting we have 2 rooms the babies in the baby room are from 3 months - 2 years, so we plan activities that promote their physical, language and communication and their personal, social and emotional development. In the older room which ranges from 2 years - 5 years we have planning that goes up on the wall and the children can make a contribution in what activities that they would like to do the next day or the following week and we can then adapt it accordingly for each of the children’s needs.

Achieve economical well being: We ensure that all the children’s activities and play areas encourages them to develop their own independent skills. We ensure that we have a curriculum that gives the children learning opportunities that helps them to develop their further learning. In the older children’s room in the home corner we have a number of different dressing up clothes which represent different occupations that the children can dress up in, for example, a doctor, nurse, firemen, builder ect. We also turn our home corner into different things like a doctor’s surgery, a supermarket, a flower shop, a vets. While this is available to them we provide the children with toys, equipment and also books about the different occupations to further their learning. Also by following the EYFS guideline’s and making sure that the children are safe and happy we are ensuring that they get the best possible start in life.

I think that you have done well. Maybe they want you to add something about the four EYFS themes; A Unique Child, Positive relationships, Enabling environments and Learning and development.
