Hey,

Hope Someone Can Help Me, Im On My Last Piece Of Written Work And Am Confused On How To Answer The Worksheet:

I Have Been Given Scenarios And I Have Got The Decsribe Hoe The Childrens Level Of Maturation And/or Previous Experiences Might Affect Each Situation, Then Referring To What I Have Written Describe What Could Be Done To Support The Childs Developmental Needs.

1. A Person Is A Childminder Caring For A 15 Month Old Baby And The Mother Wants The Childminder To Start Potty Training With Her And She Wants Her To Be Dry Asap Becos Nappyies Are Too Expensive.

2. A Newly Qualified Nursery Nurse Is Becoming Increasing Annoyed With A 2 Yr Old Who Cannot Follow Simple Instructions. The Nursery Nurse Had To Explainto The Child 3 Times Not To Throw Sand On The Floor.

3. A Child Is 3 Yrs Old And Has Just Moved Up Into The Preschool Room In Nursery. She Has Been Getting Into Trouble Alot Recently Becos She Cant Sit Still During A 15 Minute Story Time.

4. A Key Worker Is Concerned About A Key Child Who Is 4 And Speaks Little English, Cries When His Mum Leaves Him. This Is Becoming A Nuisance As His Mother Is Staying Longer Each Time And Appears To Be Making It Difficult For The Staff. The Key Worker Is Concerned Because The Child Has Started Late And Only Has A Few Months To Prepare For School.

5. A Parent Wants To Talk To The Reception Teacher About Her Childs Progress As Parents In The School Yard Have Been Discussing There Childrens Progress With Reading And The Child Appears To Be Behine.

hi there
this is what i wrote to cover k3d215
hope it helps
children of the same age will not reach all of their development norms at the same time. some children will achieve their development norms earlier than expected, where as others will reach them later. this depends on their abilities and what opportunites are available to them. these can encourage/enhance or hold a child back with all areas of their development.
for example: 1 child aged 3 may have attended nursery and therefore had lots of different experiences , intereacted with lots of children, developed good language and social skills, be indendant and confident.
where as another child of the same age may have been cared for at home by 1 person and therefore may not be as confident, not developed good social skills and emotionally not what to be away from their carer.
it is important that when working with children that you take into account and understand their previous experience and maturate, so that you ae able to support and help them with their development. and ensure not to set unrealistic or unachieveable expectations for their stage f development.
good luck
