The medical model focuses on what a person can't do eg: A wheelchair user cannot climb stairs or walk to the shops. under this model disabled people are defined by their illness or medical condition.

The social model focuses on ridding society of barriers rather than "curing" people who have an impairment. eg: a wheelchair user can access a building with the help of a ramp, the disabling factor is the environment not the person.

Hope this helps. :)
