Use your EYFS for the statutory framework and practice guidance. That's the national part of it.

The local guidance will be what your county area expects you to do. They will have someone such as an advisory teacher/s to 'guide' you on how they wish you to practice and follow procedures in your area.

They may have requirements they expect you to follow to enable your setting to claim funding for eligible children. They may expect you to attend certain courses/training and be qualified to a certain level. It seems from this forum alone, some practitoners are required to have English and Maths qualifications, other early years authorities are 'happy' if you are working towards whilst training/studying.

In your early years area, they may have decided i.e. to 'push/prioritise' on outdoor play and may set their own targets of promoting this across to settings they look after/support. There may be local legislation say on fire evacuation/safeguarding. They will be following national legislation and regulations, but they might implement it differently from another county.

It's a bit like the practise guidance of the EYFS pack - it's simply that - guidance, as long as you are covering the areas of learning and developing sucessfully, and adhering to the statutory framework, you/the setting can 'stamp' their own individuality/uniqueness on it.
