Help SOS learning outcomes???

Hi
My question has asked how do I link my 2 activities i.e. roleplay and model making to EYFS and what are the learning outcomes. I haven't a clue what this means - can you help?

Default Learning areas

Hi, big question

You need to look at the activity and identify parts of it that provides learning and play.

This is the dcsf's page for the six areas of learning - Early learning goals

As you can imagine communication language and literacy can involve words, text, voices, signs, talking.

So to include this in your role play helps link the activity to CLL

Home corner role play can be linked to PD - Physical development because it can involve large muscle and small muscle use.

GM - Gross Motor
FM - Fine motor

GM - Dressing up - capes, coats, big wellies, running around, moving things, lifting, sitting, standing - reaching, push along rides for example in a garage or race track role play.
FM - Buttons, zips, poppers on dressing up, mark marking, sorting things with fingers - coins, shopping, till and keyboard buttons - pincer grip / grasp

Small world role play - little figures such as dolls house, zoo animals and Home corner role play can be linked to CD - Creative development as the Children are able to express themselves creatively, make things up, design and architect ..

Creative development also involves music, cookery, craft, art, gardening, hobby interests ..

Mathmatical Development - PSRN - Problem Solving, Reasoning and Numeracy can be introduced with resources, direction and awareness. Link role play to MD by providing counting objects, items with numbers on and activities that familiarise the Children with number shape, sound, amount or quantity, size and position .. count buttons as they are done up on Teddy's coat - do you start buttoning at the top and go down - or from the bottom and go up ..

PSED - Personal social & emotional development links to role play through exploring known experiences - from home, friends and other environments such as birthday parties, visits, play areas .. Children use these experiences to free play 'roles - through this they find how to share, turn take, listen, wait, ask, sometimes apologise, understand everyone is different in different ways .. named emotions are also introduced through role play - Happy, smile, grumpy, sad, upset, cross

KNUW - Knoweledge and understanding of the world can be looked at by applying a theme or topic to play - Cafe role play would look at customers, items to buy, how they are made, what 'to sell' is .. equipment and specialised items used in that role .. using the same planning ideas for outdoors & indoor role play is good.

Model making suggestions, these are quite a broad overview, you may need to check if they need to be more specific.
Thinking along the lines of malleable based or Junk modelling.

KNuW - Link by looking at the modelling material and tools / equipment being used. What is it, what is it made from, where did it come from - raw materials and the finished tool. Who may of used it before and how is it used in other's career choices, at home or other places.
CD - creativity in design. What does the Child make or model through playing freely with the modelling material and how is this altered with the interaction and ideas of others.
CLL - keywords and vocabulary. Use words that describe the modelling movements, actions and manipulations - roll, pinch, push, pull, stretch, squash, twist, curl .. and communications that help working together.
PSRN - for math look at colour, numbers of things, where they are and what order they are in - to join together looks at problem solving & reasoning - cut up straws for dough hair or spiky petals ..
NB: Please note, that at the time of this posting - for the purpose of eyfs, colour is highlighted as an element of creative development.
PD - kneading and moulding malleable materials uses arm, upper and lower back, neck, shoulder, leg muscles - hand muscles for rolling, modelling and adding features. Junk modelling may also involve ripping card, manouvering, stacking, balancing, selecting items - boxes, tubes from a storage place and transporting them to where needed.
PSED - explore feelings and self, emotions and thoughts whilst playing with the materials - texture, sensation, preference - and if working individually or as a group.
NB: Please note, that at the time of this posting - for the purpose of eyfs, texture is highlighted as an element of creative development.

I hope this helps, the focus for learning, play and linking can change so easily by such small inclusions and actions that it's easy to sometimes forget just how much is invloved in provision

Wikipedia's Child development stages is great to use as a guide for planning realistic, age related activities.

'All stages and writing outcomes

Best wishes
xx
