To get more precise links you need to look at the Eyfs ages and stages information for the children you are observing, because there are different expectations depending on the children and how they are working...

Model making ... learning outcomes

PSED - children are working together, taking turns and sharing resources;

CLL - children are discussing what they are doing and using appropriate language to make plans and negotiate;

PSR&N - children are solving problems of where things go and how things best fix together;

Kuw - depending on the activity the children might be using images from the world around them as their inspiration;

PD - children are using their fine and gross motor skills (whole bodies) to make the models;

CD - children are working creatively. If you leave the model out they may come back and make adaptations using their imaginations. They can also be encouraged to decorate their models using eg sensory material, paint etc.

I hope this helps
