Hi, have you checked with your course provider about the teaching they'll be giving for this unit?

Also ask them what reading you need to do, maybe take a look at the study skills handbook on amazon.co.uk as it aims to support learners to identify own learning styles, the resources you have around you and the way you like to do things to optimise your learning.

How do you generate ideas through study times? maybe you connect what you're thinking/ideas with the views and ideas of others, follow up leads, ask questions to extend your thinking.

This is what I did.

Explain different techniques that may be used to improve memory.

There are different techniques available to improve our memory. But the thing is we must pick the right one which actually suits us.

 Concentration- actually focusing and concentrating and avoid distractions on a specific thing might helps to improve the memory. For example, while reading concentrate on the book rather than the music which is heard nearby.

 Sharing – sharing or discussing with our friends will helps to think about the particular topic in different angle and that will helps us to keep it remember.

 Pictorial representation – instead of using long paragraph, represent it in a diagrammatic form by using flow charts, graphs and so on. So that our brain can easily recall the visual memory whenever required.

 Break time – taking breaks while reading will helps us to get refresh and instead of sitting in one place moving around and getting fresh air will make us more active and helps us in concentration.

 Audio and video – consider we are reading about animals. Instead of reading in books alone, with the help of the documentary in bbc and hearing the animals sound in audio will helps to recall a lot as we experience those sounds.

 Relating information – whenever we read something, we should relate it with our real life or relating with some other thing which we already know will make us to understand it in a quicker manner.

 Grouping and organising - Grouping similar things together will helps us to extend the capacity of mind to remember things. For example when writing the grocery list, grouping the dairy products like cheese, milk, yogurt together and vegetables like tomato, carrot, broccoli together might help us to remember things easily.

 Relaxing – proper sleeping, exercising, listening to music will helps to lead a stress free life and increase our memory power. For example, before going to exam do not read up to the last minute that makes our mind tensed and panicking. Instead relax and make the mind calm so that we can think clearly while writing exams.

 Helping – helping our friends will also improve our memory because we can able to recall many things when we teach our friends.

 Practising – consider we are preparing for driving theory test. We can use our computer for practising as in reality we need to use the computer for writing exams. So that we can know that we can able to complete the test before the timer runs out. Practising mock test before will gives us awareness about the test and no surprises during the real test.

 Team work – we can discuss certain topic with our friends so that they can give us different kinds of solution for a particular problem, our mind can grasp things easily when they said orally.

 Treat or reward- consider if we need to complete 3 questions, we can give ourselves a treat on completing each questions like eating a sweetie or doing our favourite things which will helps our mind to get relaxed and motivated to complete all of it.

Explain creative strategies for; generating ideas through study, organising information and structuring ideas.
This is what I did,

2.1 Explain creative strategies for:
A. Generating ideas through study:

There are different kinds of ideas available and it will differ from person to person. Some of them will use books, photo copies and other materials to read, others might use soft copy such as using internet, e-document, discussion groups to read. While studying they can follow certain ideas which will help them to do the work more efficiently. They might memorise laws, formulae and principles which might be essentially required.

 The diagrammatic representation will help us to remember lots of things easily and there are different types of diagrams like pie charts, graphs, maps, flow charts, etc. during study.
 Referring the hints taken during the class sessions will give us awareness about the study.
 Instead of reading till the last minute during exams, make the mind rest for some times which will allows the mind to recall many things while writing exam.
 Some may like to read alone in a calm environment and write the key words in a paper which will help them to recall later on.
 Some will like to share their thoughts and opinion with another person like friends (group discussion) and will get different ideas through it.
 Others may like to hear things (audio) from their lecturer or friends that will help them to gain most of the knowledge during study.
 Time management and taking breaks will make them feel relaxed and increase their concentration power and feel stress free to boost their confidence level.
 Comparing the current study with the previously gained knowledge and examples will make the things easier.

B. Organising information:

Organising is nothing but collecting and grouping the information in right order according to their priority. During gathering information we used to write it down one by one in the paper. But that time it is not properly organised because we are gathering the required information from other sources (may be in class room, books) and taking hints. Hints are not essential to be organised. But while putting that to the assignment it must be properly arranged in an order by using bullet points, tables, flow chart and so on. By rereading it again we can make our desired changes in it and sort them in right order. The gathered information must be properly arranged so that it will make sense while reading.

For example, whenever we start doing a project, the first thing we need to consider is information gathering and then planning, developing, organising and then structuring, testing and documentation. Whenever the required information is developed in a project, then it should be organised so that others can understand what we have done in our work. Organising is some kind of sorting the information. When doing project works the information can be photocopies and stored in a file according to the categories.

Another example, in ‘school name’ we used to group things together. Registering means the staff will call for the students name one by one to know that they are present. When entering inside the class room the students need to pick their names and put that inside a box which is kept in the table with the help of parents.

We will separately keep the children medicines and the staff medicine so that it won’t confuse us and it is safe to do so. This is also a type of organising stuffs inside the settings. We have divided the games into indoor and outdoor games. The indoor games include playing cards, puzzles, play dough and so on. Outdoor games such as ball games, bike, scooter, water and sand play and so on.

C. Structuring ideas

Structuring ideas means shaping the ideas or order, organising the ideas. For example while writing a project we should give the introduction first then the content/body part and at last the conclusion. If we change the order then it won’t make any sense and very difficult to understand. Structuring ideas means we are shaping and arranging them in right order to make it understand very quickly.

Structuring also mean arranging the idea by properly design it. While writing, instead of putting the stuffs in one big essay, splitting that in little by little parts like using paragraphs, highlighting the key words, using bullet points and so on.
