Default Unit 7, 2.2 services and design for children?

Hey guys, stuck on this question, any help will be much appreciated :)

Explain the importance of designing services around the needs of children and young people.

So far I've written this but feel I need to write alot more but cannot find any info anywhere...

There are a range of services in all local areas that are designed to focus on the needs of children and young people. Services may include after school clubs, children/youth centres etc, all of which are available to support children in achieving their full potential.
Many of the services available aim for a child-centred or young person-centred approach and are relevant to all individual needs, preferences, likes and dislikes. Services that meet individual needs are more likely to achieve goals of supporting wellbeing and positive outcomes for children and young people.

Also what other kind of services are there?

it's asking you to explain the importance of providing services around children/yp.

So as well as stating there are a range of services (which they didn't ask for but you do need to give examples) you need to say something such as '..... with more mothers working these days, very often both sets of parents are at work until the early evening, and services such as an after school club is important for children who may in the past have gone home (latchkey kid) to an empty house. After school clubs provide......... which benefits children/yp by..... Or you could write of a children's centre and what services they offer for young children and how important it is to their development etc

They want to know why is it important for children and young people so think of the reasons children need services designed around them and then the services will come easily. So think or environment - home parents - young, poor parenting skills, drug users/alcoholic/smokers, poor diet, poor housing/damp etc, deprivation/poverty/ special needs/isolation (i.e.high rise flat)/chronic illness/often hospitalised/language barrier/cultural etc.

I hope this helps get you thinking.
