Default How child protection fits within safeguarding? please help!

I have looked at the different threads and researched this question ALOT! but I still have no idea to write for it - I don't know where to start. I'm not even sure how child protection and safeguarding are different?

I should have completed this at the beginning of this month but I'm really stuck!

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks x

Hi, child protection concerns itself with ensuring children are protected from abuse and abusive situations. Where absue is suspected or alleged, the policies and procedures that a setting has in place will guide the reporting process - what's reported, when, how and to whom and what might happen from there.

Safeguarding is everything you do to keep children well, safe, healthy and able to enjoy their environment without getting hurt.

Safeguarding examples to see the difference are washing hands before preparing & eating food, risk checking outdoor play areas, making sure toys are fit for purpose, supervising and assisting children carefully, wiping up water & sand spills to avoid slips

Child protection issues include whistleblowing poor practice, recording the words children use when making a disclosure, filling in an accident/existing and new injuries form

You'll need to contact your tutor for further advice as it would be good practice to read a setting's safeguarding policy and maybe a separate child protection policy to see the scope of safeguarding & the specifics of child protection.
