Default LLUK Engage parents in their children’s early learning - CYPOP 40

Hi, if your assessor/tutor pops in to observe this maybe you'll be able to chat and reflect on the cultural diversity of your own setting/placement?

Culturally sensitive is in practice, to not make assumptions, be judgemental / make inappropriate or misplaced judgements, show prejudice, discrimination, bias, be aggressive or confrontational, create situations that cause defensiveness .. to reflect on your understanding of issues to ensure the well-being of children is safeguarded, know your setting's policies and procedures and ensure parents have every opportunity to also know them.

UNCRC

Maybe look at the ways you engage with parents to support sharing knowledge and promote all the unique aspects of culture that makes your group what it is and how that happens, maybe by ...
  • Valuing and respecting parents
  • Listen to parents and acknowledge their feelings and experiences
  • Recognise parents' strengths and help them to build on these
  • Promote the value and recognition of diversity in society and in parenting roles
  • Recognise the barriers that individual families may face and identify the support they need
    Source WWP unit 312
these are ways to work with parents to help support children's learning, how they are implemented in your setting may differ xx

This LLUK/CYPOP unit wants to help support you to ..
CCLD 301 Develop and promote positive relationships
CCLD 304 Reflect on and develop practice
CCLD 317 Work with families to enhance their children’s learning and development
WWP 310 Reflect on and update own knowledge and practice
WWP 312 Deliver services that value and respect parents
