Not sure if this will help but it may give you an idea. Not had it signed off yet waiting for feedback.

The importance of child’s centre approach is to ensure the child or young person is considered first before anyone else and before a member of staffs own convenience. It involves recognising the worth of each child or young person no matter what the behaviour. Staff must do what is in the best interest and aim to see things from that child’s point of view. Each child is different and will respond to different approaches and interest. Using the right approach for that child will defuse the situation continue their learning and boost their self-esteem.

This may help you also...

Essential to safeguarding and encouraging the welfare of a child or young person is having a child’s centred approach. This could include seeing and keeping a child focused through difficulties they could be experiencing. Listening and ascertaining a child’s wishes and feelings will be important for the child, especially if they have formed a strong bond with the professional they are opening up to. It will also be imperative to a child if that professional close to them understands their daily lives and what they might be experiencing, no matter how hard it could be for the adult to hear. Crucially the child or young person will know there are people out there to help and support them when they need advice or guidance

to ADD more to this outcome.....

The child centered approach uses all information to identify difficulties, risk factors, strengths and protective factors. Once the assessment has taken place, plans can be put into action to help the child. Support is given to the child to enable them to be healthy, stay safe, enjoy and achieve, make a positive contribution and achieve economic well being (the five Every Child Matters outcomes).

Every child will achieve these five outcomes a different way. Even minor improvements by parents/carers and professionals can dramatically help the child. The child centered approach focuses on what these improvements may be.

The child therefore needs coordinated help from health services, education, social care, the voluntary sector and often the justice system to ensure that all of the child’s needs are met.
