General question Analyse how play supports the interest and abilities of children

Hi,
I'm stuck on analysing how play supports the interests and abilities of children. The book talks about observing children while they are playing and looking at how long a child stays at an activity- if they do not play for long it maybe because the activity is not interesting enough etc and if the child plays with other children (I get that this may indicate the need for some additional support) I just seem to get my brain in gear today!
Thanks for you help

Hi, welcome to silkysteps. To respond to this criteria you'll need to research what play is all about, Best play on Play England is a good read, then using you knowledge of what children's interests are ( based on observations, durations of visits to activities, what's said about the resources), their abilities or stages of development, you can see how effective play in your setting is or isn't at supporting them xx

Best wishes
