This relates to praising children for their abilities appropriate to their age! I covered with direct observation when I did physical activity and praised the children for thinking of different ways to walk along a bridgeway they had made, ie hopping, skipping, shuffling etc.

If you can do a relfective account to sometime when you have shown the children or spoke to them and they have responded to you with behaviour which is suitable for their age! I.E if they are aged 3 they will probably not be able to do exactly what you are asking but children aged 9 would perhaps have developed more and more is expected from them regarding behaviour!
