we use phonics in our setting to help children learn the shape and sound of the letter . what shape the childs mouth needs to make when making the letter sound. learning what the letter looks lkike, that words start with phonic sounds . we use phonics to help children who have speech, langugae and communication needs especailly if they have had corrective medical intervention . jolly phonics helps with communiction and language development using the simple ryhmes on the cd. you can make games up too like having a bag full of things like a snake for the s sound or if older children you can use cards with pictures. this is just a few ideas hope this helps
