Hi, this is all to do with the way your own setting or your own placement works.


You need to ask for any policies and procedures that deal with preventing infection or minimising the spread of infection eg. time children and you are to be away from the setting if suffering vomiting, diarrhoea, contagious infection such as chicken pox, how information is shared between everyone eg. with those handling food, who you talk to when you're unsure or need to find out more and what notifiable diseases need to be reported.

Hi a warm welcome to the site. The answers do relate directly to your setting's policy, procedures and daily practices. So you will need evidence of that in order to respond to each of the criteria xx


Level 3 knowledge regarding minimising the spread of infection can be found on pages 39+ & 75-6 of this EYE handbook - on amazon.co.uk which looks at hygiene - physical care routines eg. handwashing food hygiene, protective clothing, dealing with spillages, safe disposal, cleaning and sterilisation. To help prevent secondary infections it also looks at children's mobility & bodily circulation, good ventilation, encouraging children to rest, what their diet is and minimising contact with other people.

Page 106 then examines COSHH and the legislation for health & safety.

At level 4 you'll be in a position to review and implement changes in managerial practices so it's important you speak to your tutor and make sure you're covering the criteria inline with the responsibilities of a higher qualification.
