Lord Laming in 2003 led an inquiry into the events that lead up to the tragic loss of Victoria Climbie in 2000:

Lord or Sir as he was then Michael Bitchard's inquiry 2004 examined the vetting procceses in place that enabled Ian Huntley to become employed at a secondary school, village college that saw him go on to murder Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman in Soham 2003.

2.0 BACKGROUND

2.1 Following Ian Huntley's conviction in December 2003 for the murders of Jessica Chapman and Holly Wells, the Home Secretary asked Sir Michael Bichard to lead an independent Inquiry into Child Protection measures, record keeping, vetting and information sharing in Humberside Police and Cambridgeshire Constabulary.

2.2 The Inquiry's Terms of Reference were to: -

'Urgently enquire into child protection procedures in Humberside Police and Cambridgeshire Constabulary in the light of the recent trial and conviction of Ian Huntley for the murder of Jessica Chapman and Holly Wells. In particular to assess the effectiveness of the relevant intelligence-based record keeping, the vetting practices in those forces since 1995 and information sharing with other agencies, and to report to the Home Secretary on matters of local and national relevance and make recommendations as appropriate.'

2.3 The Inquiry sought information and evidence from a variety of organisations and individuals. There were 16 days of public hearings between 26th February and 30th March 2004 during which oral evidence was received from 64 witnesses.

2.4 Sir Michael Bichard delivered his report to the Home Secretary six months after the Inquiry was launched and it was published on 22nd June 2004.

Hi, informing practice means to use information in ways that enable professional practitioners to change the way things are done in order for them to better the safeguarding of children in their care xx

iv'e wrote the following : My local safeguarding children board (Warwickshire Safeguarding Children Board), aim to ensure that by doing this there is a full understanding of what happened and or whether anything would help to prevent similar deaths in future for other children in our area

would that be ok or do i need to go into more detail?
