Hi, this is about you and your working practices within the setting and is assessment criteria your tutor/assessor may arrange to visit & discuss with you.

It realtes to issues surrounding postiive practices and negative ones eg. being rude, impatient, disrepecting parents and carers, not caring, ignoring, dismissing, failing to report concerns, being judgemental, discriminating against individuals or groups, how you use labels to describe individuals, groups and situations and maybe how you use your own childhood experiences to influence the way you work profesionally - may be positive or negative.

It can help your understanding if you evaluate what you ..
  • know of observations - on amazon and how they're taken in the setting. Do you know the different type, do you use what you find out to support individual children's learning & development.
  • Your knowledge of child development and how that supports what you do and why you do it.
  • Knowledge of experiences, activities and resources that promote child development.
  • Your part in the planning system - daily routines, suggesting, providing feedback implementing and delivering those ideas.
  • A setting's policies and procedures and how you work with these to support the children 's welfare, safety and the setting's aims
  • Your professional ability to recognise when and where children's development isn't quite as expected.
  • Knowledge of referral procedures that provide support for a child's indentified needs.
  • How you work with other agencies, professionals and how you understand the benefits of integrated working
  • Working closely with parents and carers
