Default eymp 3 roles of key health professionals and sources of professional advice

Hi Everyone,

Not sure on how much info to give with this question:

EYMP 3 criteria 3.2 Describe the roles of key health professionals and sources of professional advice in promoting positive health and well being for early years children and their families and carers.

Could somebody be kind enough to give me a small example as i tend to write too much just after a little guidance on maybe one section and then i can get on with the rest.

Thankyou very much

Lynne

Hi Lynne

I wrote about differnt Health professionals, around a couple of lines for each.

Dietician, health visitor, outreach worker, GP, speech therapists, paediatricians, educational psychologists, opthamologists, dentist, physiotherapist, audiologist.

So for Health visitor i put - Works with families from when a child is 10 days old and records its weight and height. They carry out age milestone checks on the children and refer any concerns that they may have to the GP.

Hope this helps you a litte

hi lynne

E The roles of key health professionals are as follows:
School nurse she will offer advice to parents on the health of their child and she will carry out hearing checks, give advice on to parents regarding their child’s toilet habits, advice on skin tags and rashes gives information on weather the child needs to visit their GP, this can all be done in the setting. They will monitor the health of the children and also give advice to schools.
Audiologist they will measure the child’s hearing levels
Dentist gives advice on how to keep teeth and gums healthy.
Dieticians work to give advice on the right nutrients the child needs and from what foods to get them. My setting also has leaflets available for parents to take home on healthy eating.
GP doctors are usually one of the first people to see the child and can give care to the child and the family and make the right referrals if required.
Paediatrician they specialise in working with children with health problems.
Speech therapists they help children with speech, language and communication difficulties and give advice to schools and parents.
Physiotherapists help children with coordination and their movement resulting from injury, illness or a medical condition. In my setting they will come in and give advice to the teaching assistant who works with a child with a medical problem.
Psychologists will work with a child with behavioural or learning difficulty.
Optometrist will examine the child’s eyesight and prescribe glasses if needed.
Health visitor they work with GPs to give support to children and their families they can give advice to parents regarding the child’s health and development.

Parent’s permission must always be given before making referrals.
hope this also helps x

Hi Wendy

I'm sure you could do it, but least you have another year to decide.

Good luck with your new job.

Only came across this site a couple of days ago, its fantastic for pointers in the right direction, i normally find myself reading the question loads, still not getting it then going back the next day and having another go, It is just like discussing ideas in a class situation, love it

Hi Kerrie

Yeah i really like silkysteps i think it's a bit of give and take and you get different peoples views. I find i give too much info thats why i now like to ask if i think i'm gonna write pages and pages.
My danghter is now doing her BA and the EYPS and she is always telling me i write too much, she said you write as if your doing the foundation degree but just don't know when to stop.

Thanks for your help earlier, i have now finished the question.

Have you finished your course?

Lynne

Hi Kerrie
about the same as you, i have a few bits an bobs in a couple of earlier units to finish and need to do EYMP 3, 4, and 5, and them my optional units which is cypop 6, 15 and 16, which i havent started at all yet, think i have one credit left to do so will have to pick another optional unit too.

Hoping to finish end of sept, i don't see my tutor till early sept and hoping to have most of the work done so he will probably have to observe me on some things and sign my units off that i have just done.
can't wait to finish but like Wendy said she's bored now.

Lynne
