How cognitive development contributes to holistic learning and development
Cognitive development contributes to the child's overall learning as it enables them to relate their knowledge to different situations. As they will also be developing skills in other areas such as communication and language, they will be able to speak to others about what they are doing and discuss and develop their ideas. This is why it is also important for adults to constantly be talking to young children and enabling them to talk through their understanding.
From this you can see how delayed language impacts/interacts with cognitive development by not enabling children to percieve or produce the speech and communication skills a child needs to progress further. The role that sensory deficit plays in this interaction is the potential for them to acquire a reduced or altered understanding of what happens when they touch, see/sight, hear/sound, taste and smell.
