i am really struggling with this unit 3.1 done task 1 thats it,
dont have a clue what to do. finding it really hard just dont have the time x

Just done that one but college have got my folder....

As I recall: The importance is, the sooner it is diagnosed, teh more chance there is putting it right as it will affect later academic results and also has an impact on child's ability to sociolise with his/her peers and overall behaviour. Like someone else said, look up ICAN Report and the Every Child A Talker report
Multi-agency: school can refer to SENCO who refers to speech therapy who then report back to school. A doctor can become involved through the speech therapist if they think the problem is more medical. Some children have problems communicating because of medical conditions, others because of poor communication within the home setting.
Play: If you believe in the concept that children learn through play, look at how the Reggio and Forest Schools approach help boost children's overall communication through play activities. If you search for Reggio on Teacher.tv there's a video on there that talks about how shy children start opening up and talking more when taken out of the classroom into a 'natural' environment.
Think that was it in a nutshell.
