Default Healthy care

Hi Girls

How do you promote healthy care in your setting ?

I have things like :

Snack time (washing hands etc..)
Cultural beliefs
Encouraging outdoor play (Physical)
Arts, crafts, creative.
Positive contribution
Key worker (safe, stable relationships)

Any more???
My mind has now gone blank.

Thanks
Wendy.x

I don't know what you think of these idea's... just some things running through my head! I apologise if I remention anything you suggested above.

In addition to Outdoor play as physical, songs and dance indoors is also physical. Also blowing bubbles and the children running around and catching them, elefun is quite a physical game too.

Emotional care, learning how to express feelings, being able to communicate, knowing how to keep themselves safe

Toileting - how to care for themselves

Teeth - brushing after midday meal

Nutrition / Preparing foods, handwashing, washing fruit and veg, not licking spoon and putting in bowl

Using of tissues, dispose in bin after use and wash hands after blowing nose, and after sneezing!

For older children in childminding setting there may also come a point where questions about drugs may arise. I find it easy to start with general medicines and how we should be careful and use them correctly, and then cigarettes. My lot haven't got to asking further yet, but the day will come when I have to expand further.

Thankyou Butterflies

That helps alot. The setting i'm in only has 3 and 4 year olds so they are not at the stage to ask about drugs. :-)
