Hi, welcome to silkysteps xx

As you've noticed unit content is undertaken in many ways. Writing tasks help to support research and assists with embedding new information, & enables an ability to reflect on current happenings, professional discussions help to demonstrate your immediate knowledge and understanding, recalling and relaying how things are done verbally/through sign in the setting.

CYP3.4 is about supporting children's health and safety so will be about how the setting rooms inside & outside are cared for and laid out - tidying, cleaning, storage areas, risk assessments, security arrangements, how you report breakages or concerns and how trips and visits outside of the setting are managed to ensure everyone remains healthy and safe.

The unit also looks at how you encourage children to explore their environments, taking on challenges that help them to develop an understanding and competence with healthy risk that forms part of each individual's life skills - steps, ladders, jumping, balancing, running, climbing, new situations, the safety equipment a setting uses, celebrating success and retrying until satisfied so that you're safeguarding emotional development & supporting resillience. It's also about how you share information with colleagues or designated persons via the observations you make on the setting that could or would cause harm - eg. what would you do if you saw an aerosol can or paint tin left unattended in a corridor.

Outcome 4 involves how you handle injuries and illness in the setting, when you call parents, report infections, contact emergency services...

I hope this helps, you might find your tutor outlines specific criteria so that you can focus on showing different aspects of your practice & knowledge.

Best wishes xx
