Hi, there are many personal care routines, maybe you can identify a time where you've ..

assisted children with toileting
supported them getting dressed and undressed
Using aprons
Tidying up
Hand washing
Preparing, selecting food and drink
Laying table, clearing the table
Examining and choosing activities and resources - inside and out
Risk assessment
Sharing observations about risk - broken toys, concerns, worries: promotes self awareness, ways of knowing how to take care of, or protect self.
Skin care - prevented sun burn, heat stroke, dehydration
Dental care - tooth brushing
Sleep - rest times, bed time
Hair care - brushing, lice, cradle cap
Nappy changing
Administer medication
Dress and care form injuries - cuts, bruises, bumped heads

Respecting children involves maintaining their privacy and dignity - where is a care routine carried out, how does it happen, what attitudes surround the routine, are parents wishes respected/involved with organising a care routine, is parental/carer permission required for any aspect of the care, is there an expectation for you to update or inform parents about the events of a care routine or maybe fill in record/log books.

Opportunities for learning & development could be how you chat about personal care, the resources you might use to help understanding, the importance and reasons for care routines and how your body language supports that. How you approach and ensure children know the choices available to them to support independance, decision making, confidence and self-esteem.

i would think for this you could write a reflective account on taking a child to the toilet or how ever your setting does this, within our setting we are based in a community centre so the children have to be taken to the toilets, we respect this by the child choosing whether they shut the door , whether they need help going to the toilet, washing their hands, flushing toilet, do they choose to dry their hands with a paper towel or use the hand dryer, we talk about why they have to wash their hands and why they need to flush the toilet, about germs etc. I didnt have to write about this but tutor either saw it or i had a personal discussion on it. other ideas would be when you change a nappy.
