Risk assess both indoors and outdoors
- Children have the right to explore and take risks for themselves. It is important that we risk assess to keep them safe while still keeping them from harm

Avoid potential hazards which could lead to harm through accident or spreading infection
- Follow all safeguarding policies and procedures in relation to infection; while children have the right to explore, if this places them at risk of infection their safety much come first.

Have clear instructions and set boundaries
- For the staff this would be the settings policies and procedures; for children this would be clear rules that practitioners set for the children around the setting. These should be made taking into account both the child’s rights and the need to protect them from harm.

Observe children and assess development

Work together with parents and other professionals
- By working together we can safeguard the children more effectively while still ensuring their rights are upheld

Hold a safeguarding certificate

Have a SENCO trained member of staff

Hope that helps :)
